    U.S.Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: March 18 - March 24

    (03/25/2010)Border Patrol agents seized over 8,004 pounds of marijuana. Agents arrested 10 criminal aliens and 12 gang members. There was 1 rocking incident.

    El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had previously been removed from the United States.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,121 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology showed anomalies in the load. A search by agents revealed the marijuana inside.


    San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents were assaulted by seven unidentified subjects throwing rocks near Otay Mesa, California. Agents deployed less lethal munitions and the attackers broke off their assault and retreated into Mexico.

    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,143 pounds of marijuana, a Ford truck and arrested a USC near Hebbronville, Texas. During a vehicle stop, a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a search revealed the marijuana concealed inside.


    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had previously been removed from the United States.


    Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras at the Amtrak station in Tampa, Florida. Record checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, to include a prior conviction for sexual battery on a victim under 12 years of age in the State of Florida. The subject had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Sasabe, Arizona. The subject kicked and punched at agents, and attempted to strike them with rocks. Agents subdued the subject using less lethal control techniques. Records checks revealed the subject had previously been removed from the United States.

    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject was a Barrio Azteca gang member and had previously been removed from the United States. Records also revealed he had an extensive criminal history, to include convictions for possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and terroristic threats.


    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents seized a loaded 9mm handgun and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Las Cruces, New Mexico. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed the weapon under the driver's seat. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for 2nd degree murder and had been sentenced to 13 years in prison.


    New Orleans Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras at a bus station near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had previously been removed from the United States.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,766 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Cuba at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan of the vehicle utilizing non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer. A subsequent search revealed the marijuana concealed within the trailer.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,198 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a naturalized USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A scan of the vehicle utilizing non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of the narcotics.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for homicide/negligent manslaughter in the State of Arizona, and that he had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor who was more than three years younger in age and an active arrest warrant issued in the State of California. The subject had also previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for child cruelty in the State of California and had previously been removed from the United States.

    Detroit Sector – A Border Patrol agent was assaulted by an illegal alien from Mexico near Detroit, Michigan. The subject attempted to abscond from the agent and actively resisted arrest. A struggle ensued and the agent used less lethal control techniques to subdue the subject. Records checks revealed the subject had previously been removed from the United States.


    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. Both subjects were identified as Sureño 13 13 gang members. One of the subjects had previously been removed from the United States.


    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Hebbronville, Texas. The subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. The subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 277 pounds of marijuana, an AK-47 assault rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a Ford truck, and arrested a national of Mexico near Vekol Valley, Arizona. Agents observed four suspected contraband smugglers, two of which were armed, loading backpacks into a vehicle. Agents attempted to stop the vehicle, which failed to yield, but was subsequently disabled by local law enforcement officers. The occupants of the vehicle absconded into the desert. Agents recovered four backpacks of marijuana and a loaded shotgun from the vehicle. The AK-47 was found near the vehicle, along with the national of Mexico.

    San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Otay Mesa, California. The subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member. Records checks revealed he was a convicted felon and had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual abuse in the State of Oregon and had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for rape in the State of Washington and had previously been removed from the United States.

    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,174 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet pickup truck near La Rosita, Texas. Agents observed six subjects carrying large bundles of suspected narcotics to the pickup truck. When agents approached, the subjects absconded, abandoning the bundles and the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed 54 packages of marijuana.


    San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Chula Vista, California. The subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had previously been removed from the United States.


    San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two USCs and seized heroin at the traffic checkpoint near San Clemente, California. The subjects admitted to having ingested heroin pellets in order to smuggle the heroin through a local airport. Both subjects were transported to a local medical facility where X-rays confirmed the presence of foreign objects. The subjects subsequently expelled a total of 20 heroin pellets.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had prior convictions for kidnapping, forgery, and false imprisonment in the State of California, and had previously been removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Arivaca, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for 2nd degree sexual assault with the use of force in the State of Wisconsin, and an active arrest warrant for escape.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a Mexican Mafia gang member, and had previously been removed from the United States.

    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested a USC and seized 325 pounds of marijuana near Hebbronville, Texas. Agents responded to a report of suspicious activity and encountered the subject and the marijuana in the brush.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for unlawful sexual contact in the State of Colorado and had previously been removed from the United States.
