Mennonites oppose Arizona-style immigration bill

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Leaders of Elkhart-based Mennonite Church USA have come out against an Arizona-style bill that would crack down on illegal immigration in Indiana.
The leaders are calling on church members to write state lawmakers and Gov. Mitch Daniels to let them know they oppose the bill. Mennonite Church USA is an umbrella organization of 965 congregations across the country.
Spokesman Andre Gingerich Stoner told The Elkhart Truth that Mennonites are supposed to love their neighbor.
The bill would require state and local police to ask a person stopped for a violation for proof of legal residence if the officer has a "reasonable suspicion" the person is not a citizen or is in the country illegally.
The bill has passed the Senate and is awaiting action in the House.

Re: IN: Mennonites oppose Arizona-style immigration bill
Yes the Bible says to love thy neighbor, however... One of the 10 Commandants given to Moses said not to covet thy neighbors stuff and another one said not to steal.
Those who come here illegally do so because they covet what we have and instead of working to make their country a better place, they find it easier to steal from us instead.
Supporting illegals is against Gods Will. It is really sad to see so many churches worship the dollar over God.

What really takes the cake is all these Churches advocating for illegal aliens are receiving tax breaks from our government and many are receiving state and federal funding! Good citizens of Indiana please contact your Legislative Advocates Committee and demand an investigation!
