A 911 call from the 100 block of East Davis Street at 11 p.m. Friday led to the arrest of a woman for an immigration violation and for possessing a forged Social Security card, as well as a fake naturalization identification card.

Kerrville police officer Mike Baker responded to the residence after a 911 call from a man speaking broken English telling the operator only that he couldn’t leave.

Baker arrived on-scene and made contact with the 27-year-old man, who told him his girlfriend was intoxicated and would not let him leave the residence. Baker reported there was a language barrier, and neither individual could be identified.

While speaking with the man, officers noticed a Social Security card in plain view in the residence, which they examined to try and identify the two people.

According to police, the social security card was not the same color as normal cards, and the card was printed on different paper.

The officers were unable to match the Social Security card to any known name or driver’s license. Under the Social Security card, officers found a plastic card with US Department of Justice Immigration and Naturalization written on the top of the card.

Officers thought the card looked fake because it was missing holograms. They called the US Border Patrol office in Del Rio to try and verify the woman’s identification.

Border Patrol officers told the KPD the number was incorrect and did not match the woman at the scene, who police later identified as Maria Hernandez Anda, 34. Photos of other documents also were sent to the Border Patrol, who confirmed the documents were fake.

Officers seized the fake documents and sent them to Justice of the Peace Kathy Mitchell, who issued warrants for the arrest of Anda.

KPD officers Baker and Norma Martinez went back to the residence Saturday afternoon and arrested Anda. She was taken to the Kerr County jail.

The case has been forwarded to the 198th district attorney’s office for review and prosecution.
