    ĀSe habla construction?
Classes in Spanish begin for employers

With an estimated 30,000 Spanish-speaking workers helping rebuild South Mississippi, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has begun classes to help supervisors communicate.

The next session of construction Spanish will begin Sept. 12 at the Jefferson Davis campus in Gulfport and will continue each Tuesday for five weeks. A Thursday night class will also start the same week.

The classes will be offered free courtesy of a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. Wayne Kuntz, MGCCC's director of work force development, said classes are expected to fill quickly with room for only 15 participants in each session.

"We found there was a huge demand with the need for housing. There were a lot of workers coming from different parts of the country that didn't have English skills," said Kuntz. "A lot of people on the Coast don't speak Spanish. In other parts of the country more people are bilingual."

Three similar classes were recently offered and Kuntz said the college also has plans to teach Spanish for paramedics, EMTs and other health care workers.

    This gets me !!!

Can states pull out of the union anymore? They will be passing out sno-cones in hades before I speak Spanish and I'll move to the state that has the gumption to stick to English and I don't have to fight this crap with every new influx of people. Even though this state has English as it's official language....it's getting harder and harder to fight it and I well bet dollars to donuts, that will be the first thing they will demand a change to.

We're paying taxes so our government can teach contractors how to hire illegals?

What I can't understand is why those construction jobs aren't being given to those who were displaced by Katrina? Seems to me if they can spend the money to teach contractors Spanish they can certainly pay to have those who had to leave to come back and have a job.

There are 150,000 displaced Katrina people in Houston. It's unfathomable to me that none of these people want to work to rebuild their area. They should have a program to get these people back there to work instead of this nonsense!

Unbelievable! Everywhere you look, the government is actively aiding and abetting both the illegals, and those that hire them.
