Blunt's plan gets to the heart of illegal immigration

If those boobs in Congress had done their jobs, we’d have an immigration reform package on the books this Labor Day. Instead, the illegal immigration mess continues.

That partly explains why Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt was in Kansas City and St. Louis last week promoting his own crackdown on illegal immigration. If the feds weren’t going to do it, he was, Blunt said.

The part of his plan that got the most attention, of course, was the announcement that the Highway Patrol and other state law enforcement agencies will start verifying the immigration status of people they arrest.

Made sense to me when I heard it. But Hispanic groups were concerned about discrimination.

Gov. Blunt deserves much credit for instituting these reasonable, common sense measures. And I hope he stands firm against the inevitable blowback from the out-of-the-mainstream OBL and ethnic pressure groups.

p.s. Along with the majority of Americans, I'm pleased Congress didn't pass the monumentally flawed amnesty bill. If there are any "boobs" in Congress, it's the open border zealots such as John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Ted Kennedy et al. who continue to spit in the eyes of American workers and communities across the country by pushing these dangerous amnesty schemes.

This is encouraging to hear more Dems are joining the fight,in fact in the comment section several admitted bleeding hearts have now joined the anti-illegal immigration fight.

I am hopeful that all members of congress got an earful from their constituents during the recess.
