CA-Butte DA: Excusing prison sentences of aliens a bad idea

Butte DA: Excusing prison sentences of aliens a bad idea

OROVILLE — This week Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey added his signature to a letter asking Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to abandon a proposal to commute the sentences of aliens in state prisons.
The prisoners would be referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation, but Ramsey and the state's other 56 district attorneys say the plan is dangerous to public safety.

"Release would mean the prisoner's sentence is over," Ramsey said. He favors an alternative included in the letter from the California District Attorney's Association, which includes placing all released prisoners on summary parole for at least three years, making them subject to searches, seizures and restrictions imposed by a court.

"We can't just tell them they're free," he said.

Ramsey said the plan is also unfair to legal citizens who commit the same crimes.

The letter also takes issue with a state proposal to reduce so-called "wobbler" crimes from potential felonies to misdemeanors.

It points out that would "blur the lines between degrees of criminality."

Ramsey said the proposal could have a huge impact on high-dollar theft rings and financial crimes by placing perpetrators in the same category as petty thieves.

"If we were to follow the governor's proposal, a person such as Bernie Madoff would be sentenced to a misdemeanor," Ramsey said.

Whether the proposal is implemented or not, Ramsey said it won't have an impact on a revenue producing agreement

with the U.S. Marshals Service to temporarily house federal inmates, some awaiting deportation, at the Butte County Jail.

    idiocy

Every word in this article is sheer idiocy. Our governments are run by idiots. The longer we sit around talking about what to do about illegal aliens, the more illegal aliens win-the more concessions they get.

If we do nothing and wait long enough, they will eventually become citizens. It is time to arrest and deport every illegal alien in the country and do so without judicial process.

Our inactivity is their victory. The less we do, the more their numbers grow.

I also believe we need to deport illegal aliens. This worrying about the futures and welfare of people who aren't even supposed to be in our country is treasonous, it really is. We have laws that we pay hundreds of billions of dollars a year to government employees on all levels of government to enforce. No Governor, no President, no DHS Secretary, no Sheriff, no Police Chief has the "option" to pick and choose what laws they want to enforce and which ones they don't, particularly those laws that are vital to our national and economic security such as US immigration laws.

Americans need to throw out of office every single "official" in the United States who doesn't want to enforce US immigration law, that's every city council, every county commission, every state legislator, every Governor, every member of Congress and every President and US Cabinet Member at their first election opportunity.

That means between now and 2010, you can make huge progress at the local, state and Congressional level, and more in 2012 including this President if he continues on this road of wanting to legalize illegal immigration and refusal through Janet Napolitano to enforce US immigration law.

The people must stand up, speak out and then vote these traitors out of office and put them in a Soup Line.

I also think we need to demand repeal of Congressional pensions. This has created a reverse affect of providing the very people who betray US with incomes and medical care for the rest of their lives. Perhaps if they didn't have this economic security for themselves at our expense, they wouldn't continue to sell US out with every move they make.

These people are the bottom-rung of our society because they are people with no natural intelligence, no souls, no character, no loyalty, no common sense, no accountability and no humility. In other words, they're serial political sociopaths and must be thrown out of office next election.
