Los Angeles: Supervisors Pledged to Deal With Illegal Immigr

Supervisors Pledged to Deal With Illegal Immigrant Gangsters

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors pledged Tuesday to deal with illegal immigrant gang members.

The family of slain high school football player Jamiel Shaw Jr. appeared at Tueday's Board of Supervisors meeting to deliver a tearful plea for support
of the so-called Jamiel's Law, which would deny "sanctuary city" protection to illegal aliens in the city of Los Angeles.

"We do regularly get reports back from the Sheriff on those issues, and on ICE, and we would be very happy to have them come back so they can address those issues," said county Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke. "We will have a special meeting where we call them."

Shaw, 17, was gunned down by an alleged gang member who was in the country illegally on March 2 in the 2100 block of Fifth Avenue, near his
    family's Arlington Heights home.

According to police, the shooting occurred one day after the alleged gunman, Pedro Espinoza, was released from county jail, where he was serving
time for assault with a deadly weapon. Espinoza was allegedly in the county illegally.

The Shaw family expressed concern that no immigration agents were waiting to deport Espinoza when he was released from jail.

"We need to do something," Anita Shaw, the victim's mother, said. "We need to get our head out of our behind and do something."

Burke said there would be discussion of the matter, but admitted that the board's power over the sheriff -- who oversees the jails -- was limited.

"Obviously, we don't run the jail; the sheriff is independently elected," Burke said. "But we have the ability to say to the sheriff that certain policies should be followed."

Jamiel Shaw Sr. was on the Kevin James show tonight and said that Supervisor Antonovich is the one who is strongest against IAs, and the others didn't say much at the meeting -- although they did pay more attention to him than did the LA City Council members. Mr. Shaw will try to confirm the date of the special meeting where the county supervisors will discuss the IA issues.

Doesn't the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors control the funding of the jail and sheriff's department? Don't the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have to approve wages, building funding, purchases of weapons, safety equipment, and patrol vehicles and jail transportation through a budget? My guess is the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has monitary control over the sheriff's department which provides a great deal of influence.

In addition to county funding, the sheriff's deoartment may get federal funding for gang & drug programs and DHS funding but they are for special programs, not the day to day operation of the jail,

No suspect can 'technically' have a fair trial and no court of law can dispense true justice without knowing the citizenship/immigration status of the accused.

That city is so corrupt from the mayor to the illegals . Nothing will get done . If anything it will be token appeasement ! When you have a Governor that will not attmit Illegals broke his budget and put his state deep in the hole . You surely can't expect much from the city that greatly helped drink that budget up .

LA is Ground Zero for criminal illegals. If they practice 287(g), we would be down to only 1 million illegals in all of America. LOL!

Public pressure needs to be waged from all across the country to the suupervisors in L.A. County and the Council members of the city of L.A. they need to hear from the rest of us loud and clear...for they are the worst example of a city that has become invaded by illegal aliens and the crime element that comes with it...its time to make these elected officials hear the wrath of the American public nationwide.

That would be great, but from what I've read, LA City Councilmembers (BTW the most highly paid city council members in the country with staffs larger than many members of Congress) are impervious to the concerns of taxpayers and citizens about the massive influx of illegal aliens.

For example, to the best of my knowledge, not one of the 15 LA council members supports Jamiel's Law (which only targets illegal alien gang members), and I believe only one other CM is supporting Dennis Zine's watered down type of version of Jamiel's Law. In other words, unless the lawsuit by Judicial Watch is successful, the hideous Special Order 40 will remain.
