    R.I.: ACLU protests immigration rule

    ACLU protests immigration rule
    Associated Press / November 4, 2008

PROVIDENCE - The American Civil Liberties Union wants Governor Don Carcieri of Rhode Island held in contempt of court for not seeking public comment before implementing an executive order cracking down on illegal immigrants.

Superior Court Judge Mark Pfeiffer ruled in September that Carcieri did not follow laws mandating he accept public comment before implementing part of his order, which forces firms doing business with the state to use a federal database to check immigration status of new hires. A hearing is scheduled tomorrow.

Please contact Gov. Carcieri and thank him for implementing the long overdue, common sense measures against illegal immigration:

One would eventually have to ask: Does the ACLU realize that illegal invaders are not American citizens? I mean...either honestly they don't, or this organization has adopted and is pursuing a policy that is designed to undermine the very fabric of this country!

Which is it? I believe they have an obligation to explain themselves as they are erroneously representing themselves to be an organization dedicated to preserving the civil rights of American citizens!

They should be at the very least, required to change the name of their organization as they have done very little in preserving the rights of American citizens, as stunts such as this clearly demonstrate.
