ICE on Fox News This Morning.

Julie Myers from ICE was speaking this morning with Fox News on Sanctuary Cities.
This is what she said and I will try to find some transcripts that I can attach to this e-mail.

Sanctuary Cities are breaking federal law. ICE is trying to work with sanctuary cites to stop the practice of protecting illegals.
ICE said that cities who are sanctuary cities have the most illegal crimes and worst criminals from Mexico. ICE is trying to talk with these cities and states to work with them on getting these people off of the streets and in jail or deported.

ICE also mentioned the federal government. They are not being given funding to hire more people to get everyone deported. Washington (Bush, the Senators and Congressmen will not give ICE the funding needed.

Also being stated is that most illegals comming into the United States are here to mame, kill and steal.

The question is if a state want shomeland security funding they better get rid of their illegal immigrant sanctuary status. This is what they are trying to pass now.

They are stating that sanctuary cities are misguided.

3,000 deaths in New York have been committed by Illegal Immigrants. New York is a sanctuary city.

If we want Federal Law obeyed by our States we need to let our voices be heard and force our cities to stop the sanctuary policy.

It looks like they are holding the states responsible for gangs, murders, child predators, drunks and drugs on the states. They are saying the states and cities are the one ruining america.

This was excellent. I wish everyone had heard this.

She also said more funding was going to be needed.

States can't enforce Immigration laws in the books and say it is the job of the Federal Govt yet the Feds are not doing the job!! Why not give States the power?

ICE was saying that the states have the power. In my state it is illegal for an officer to deport or detain. It is against the law for the officer to ask for identification. In my state if you are pulled over or involved in an accident and you don't have ID, a drivers license or insurance you are let go. Then the accident becomes the problem of the United States Citizens. Officers in my state are mad that their hands are tied. They are not tied by the Federal Government. They are tied because of the Govenor of my state. I live in a sanctuary city.

    I live in Utah.

Paige, where did you hear this? This isn't true in UT. They are not allowed to ask for immigration status, but they can ask for ID.
I know because a year ago I was pulled over, and I didn't have my wallet w/ me. In my wallet I keep my insurance card, DL, etc.
The UHP officer wrote me a ticket for not having my license on me, and a ticket for no insurance. Of course I have insurance and I was able to get out of the tickets, but it took me going to court to show proof that I had both; otherwise it would have been a $1,000 fine for both tickets.

You are not illegal. My mother has been hit by three illegal drivers. There was no ID, no drivers license and no insurance. If you are legal it is required.

Look at New Jersey and NYC metro area's they are plagued with crimes and Newark is a bad city, so is Bayonne, Elizabeth, and Orange are some bad cities with crime. I can touch on the New York side like, Red Hook, Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, East New York, parts of the Bronx and the Upper side of Manhattan are plagued with crime too.... Whether its illegals doing the crimes some of these area have illegal populations!

Maybe this will help. This is from the 1996 Immigration law passed by Congress and signed into law.

"State and local law enforcement officials have the general power to investigate and arrest violators of federal immigration statutes without prior INS knowledge or approval, as long as they are authorized to do so by state law. There is no extant federal limitation on this authority. The 1996 immigration control legislation passed by Congress was intended to encourage states and local agencies to participate in the process of enforcing federal immigration laws. Immigration officers and local law enforcement officers may detain an individual for a brief warrantless interrogation where circumstances create a reasonable suspicion that the individual is illegally present in the U.S. Specific facts constituting a reasonable suspicion include evasive, nervous, or erratic behavior; dress or speech indicating foreign citizenship; and presence in an area known to contain a concentration of illegal aliens. Hispanic appearance alone is not sufficient. "

Interesting...I had an accident 5 years ago with an illegal. I assume she was illegal because she didn't speak any English, had no license or insurance. She made a left hand turn in front of me on 3300 So. & 9th W.
Anyway, the officer cited her at fault for the accident, and he told me, (This was a WVC cop) that if someone doesn't have insurance, they are automatically deemed at fault.
This was refreshing for me to hear, however it didn't help me get my car back.
I know we have the don't ask don't tell policy here, and I've been trying to figure out a way to have our local officials stop this nonsense. I've called, wrote letters, faxes, emails, etc. and RARELY do I ever get a response, and the ones I do are the cloned automatic responses...
