NOGALES, Ariz. - A Mexican national known as "El Caco" has been turned over to Mexican law enforcement authorities, wanted in the stabbing death of his girlfriend.
El Caco, real name Servando Calvillo-Armenta, was charged with first degree murder last July in Mexico and has been on the run ever since. He is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, Yara Guadalupe Santiago Buelna, to death in his native country.
He was arrested in Phoenix on Dec. 6 and spent 30 days in the Maricopa County Jail. Authorities later learned he was wanted for homicide in Mexico.
After his 30 days in jail were up, he was transferred to the detention center in Florence while his removal was coordinated with Mexican authorities.
"This individual attempted to elude justice in Mexico by seeking safe haven in the United States," said Katrina S. Kane, field office director of ERO Phoenix. "ICE prioritizes the arrest and removal of criminal aliens who pose a threat to our communities."
Calvillo-Armenta was previously deported in March 2002 and October 2007.
Since Oct. 1, 2009, ERO has removed about 335 foreign fugitives from the United States who were being sought in their native countries for serious crimes, including kidnapping, rape and murder.
ERO works with ICE's Office of International Affairs, foreign consular offices in the United States, and Interpol to identify foreign fugitives illegally present in the country.

"Calvillo-Armenta was previously deported in March 2002 and October 2007."
So he was deported in 2002, 2007 and again recently? It's just a revolving door for these violent criminals. There are always previous arrests and deporatations. Hard to get all excited and happy when one is caught when you know they will just walts back in again!
