Officers with the Department of Public Safety find themselves in a car chase that ends at the Zacate Creek.

According to officers the vehicle they were following was full of illegal immigrants.

"Must have been a local driver that knows the area. Travel into Laredo by Marcella on the railroad tracks."

A DPS trooper was conducting a routine traffic stop on the mini-van when the driver refused to stop. The trooper was suspicious since there were 15 people inside the vehicle.

"DPS troopers followed the illegals to the Zacate Creek. Jumped out of this car into a very deep fall and most of them got away."

"We were able to detained a female and a young man. The Fire Department just rescued another male occupant that was injured when he jumped into the Zacate Creek."

All 15 people and the driver made a big jump, falling into a seven to eight deep hole, but one of them was stock by the rocks and could not get away.

"The patient was found approximately 30 feet from the EMBANKMENT. It took Firefighters 10 to 15 minutes to carry this patient...very slippery rocks. A very dangerous operation."

Of the 15 illegal immigrants d-p-s was able to apprehend two people. One was a 16-year-old female and a 21-year-old male. They were from San Luis Potosi and Durango; the rest got away.

"They were able to cross into Mexico by crossing the river banks."

The injured man was transported to the Laredo Medical Center with minor injuries.

DPS troopers say the investigation is still ongoing.
