Spanish media shrinking in Tucson as Hispanic numbers boom
Spanish media shrinking here as Hispanic numbers boom
Local Spanish speakers have few options for news
'I believe viewers are negatively affected by the lack of daily local news. People might not see that there really is a limited amount of options in Tucson until they look at the amount of local Spanish- language news coverage elsewhere.' Karla Gomez Escamilla, reporter for Univision in Tucson

"The extensiveness and depth of the Hispanic market is enormous, and so many Hispanics have cash jobs on the side like landscaping and housekeeping that advertisers know it would be a mistake not to invest in Spanish-language media," he said.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I just see this as consolidation with particular choices becoming more popular and others going out of business as they lose sufficient advertiser support. If a business person wanted to set up a news/talk radio station or a daily newspaper no one is stopping them.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I sense a growing resentment by taxpaying citizens hammered daily by the wave. For many, myself included, everything Spanish now is offal. And those who welcome it are shunned wherever possible. For example, I consciously seek alternatives to businesses that insist on using "Press 1 for English." The problem is we have damn few alternatives. Tucson is a symptom of an approaching storm.
