U.S. Depression Triggered By Unskilled Labor Glut
by Mobtown Native on December 7, 2008
While our elected officials keep pointing fingers, lecturing failed bankers and CEOs, they plunge the United States deeper into more deficit spending and fail to acknowledge a major reason we have slid into a full-blown depression.
Unskilled labor glut
This new depression is being triggered by a worldwide glut of unskilled labor at a time when the United States has purged itself of tens of millions of manufacturing jobs and opened its borders through lax immigration enforcement to an estimated 20 million or more illegal alien, unskilled laborers.
So, millions of Americans without specialized college degrees, who once were able to etch out a middle-class living working at a plant or small business, find themselves in competition with an army of unskilled laborers from other countries in securing one or two part-time jobs at either a fast-food joint or as a clerk at one of the few surviving retailers such as Wal-Mart. As those companies go belly up or cut staff because of feeble consumer spending, even these folks find themselves without a shot at gainful employment.

I wonder what the actual breaking point of the American people will be on this issue. At what point do they rise up and say "NO MORE"? Will it be too late? Or will our hedonistic society just lay down and die?

[quote]To make matters worst, the crown jewel of the incoming Obama administration’s economic stimulus package is to create 2.5 million public works jobs to rebuild U.S. roads and bridges. But, since Obama supports a limited amnesty for illegals already, one wonders how many of these new unskilled jobs will go to non-citizens? Especially when you consider many of them will be done by existing contractors, who already employ many illegal immigrant workers. [/quote
