Sheriffs say immigration checks cost too much
Davidson participates in program, but others wait

A months-old program that allows deputies to check the immigration status of jail inmates has been a hit in Nashville, but other Midstate counties have been slow to follow suit, with officials questioning whether they can afford the expense.

The program provides federal training and equipment to sheriff’s departments, making it possible to identify and help deport illegal immigrants who are booked into county jails.

But departments that participate are required to pay for extra officers to conduct the immigration duties — a luxury many sheriffs say they just can’t afford.

“There’s nobody that’s not interested in that program,â€

As long as Bush is in the White House the federal government will not be 'user friendly' regarding this issue.

This exemplifies the hardship that has been placed on communites (can you spell Hazelton) by overtaxing local officials who have neither the manpower nor the financial means to manage the influx of hordes of people. As a consequence many have had to re-order their priorities. There are examples where property crimes are handled by simply putting a report on the record for insurance purposes with no investigation. It is taking a toll on small businesses.

I guess some of these folks insist on placing a value on human life, especially an American life!

How many times have we heard stories concerning an illegal that has been arresting repeatedly finally killing an American?

Agreed, local officials have neither the manpower nor the means to repulse the invasion of illegal aliens.
But the reason for law non-enforcement is that local officials don't have the political will
to stand up to the local businesses that pay their keep, businesses that use illegal alien cheap labor.

do these sherriff's think that its okay for an illegal to kill or do anything to an american taxpaying citizen and that the price its going to take to train someone is worth the life of an american????

maybe its time to start phone calls to these sheriffs offices of these counties who are not on board with this idea
