CBNNews.com - A new report shows it's easier to illegally slip across the U.S. border than most people realize.

A recent experiment designed to test the security of America's borders yielded rather disturbing results: A congressional investigator strolled from Canada into the U.S. carrying a red bag with materials designed to look like the parts of a bomb- or even a nuclear device.

CBN News recently spoke with Laura Ingraham regarding America's border issue.

Ingraham is the queen of political-talk radio, and has much to say on this matter and other issues in her new book titled Power to the People. Watch the interview by clicking on the play button above.

During an eight month span, other investigators were also able to cross the Canadian border at least six times, with similar bags.

"Our work clearly shows substantial vulnerability on the northern border to terrorists or criminals entering the U.S. undetected," Greg Kutz of the Government Accountability Office said.

Of course, 99 percent of illegal border activity happens on America's southern border. That's why the U.S. plans to build 370 miles of fencing along the Mexican border next year. But will such a project make a difference?

Almost 90 percent of Americans say illegal immigration is either one of the most important-or an important- problem facing the country.

This means politicians - and presidential candidates in particular- will not be able to escape this issue.

What I want to know at what point do we evict our disfunctional government leadership so that we can start making this a safe country to live and do business WITHOUT sacrificing our own citizens
