Report: Two illegals arrested in Batavia crash

Lawmen say driver also had no license

BATAVIA, NY (WIVB) - Two men in this county allegedly illegally were arrested and turned over to the U.S. Border patrol after they were involved in a minor accident in Genesee County.

Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies report they responded to a two car crash on Route 98 and West Saile Drive in Batavia on Monday.

Juan Gomez, 25, was driving a van which collided with an SUV.

Gomez who had been living in Hamlin was charged with illegally residing in the U. S. and so was his passenger, Humberto Escalante, 24 of Elba. Gomez was also charged with driving without a license and failure to yield the right of way.

A 90-year old passenger in the other vehicle was transported to United Memorial Medical Center with minor injuries.
