PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - The Providence Police department teams up with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in order to capture a suspect wanted in connection to the murder of a cop in Guatemala.

Providence Police Inspector Francisco Colon received information that Jose Arnoldo Pinto of 181 Pettys Avenue in Providence was the suspect wanted by Guatemalan authorities on a warrant for allegedly killing a police officer.

Colon contacted local I.C.E. officials and informed them of the situation. The ICE officials then contacted the authorities in Guatemala who confirmed the information. A copy of the arrest warrant was sent to the local ICE office.

On Monday, Providence Police along with local ICE officials conducted surveillance near the suspects residence in an effort to locate and arrest him. Officials say around five o'clock two officers spotted Pinto driving west on Hartford Avenue.

Authorities pulled over the vehicle and positively identified Pinto. He was taken into custody without incident and turned over to ICE officials for immigration violations.
