Mexico Doesn't See Exodus of Illegals From U.S.

Mexico Doesn't See Exodus of Illegals From U.S.

    Tuesday, December 16, 2008 7:30 PM

MEXICO CITY — A Mexican Foreign Relations Department official says there has been no major return of migrants from the United States despite an economic crisis and immigration crackdown north of the border.

Undersecretary for North American affairs Carlos Rico says that so far this year about 1,800 Mexicans have requested permits to bring home their belongings from the United States compared to 1,400 last year.

Rico said Tuesday that the government has no data showing a massive return of Mexican migrants.

Some 12 million Mexicans live in the U.S. About half are believed to be there illegally.

That's because all of the stories where we read about mexicans going back home are false. They are simply relocating to other parts of the country, like Texas, which is friendlier to them and they can continue their life of crime.

Well......I was wondering if it wasn't a way to keep our eye off the ball, tell them what they want to hear......because I haven't seen a decline around here.

Yea, talk to the finance minister about the remittances that are no longer coming in.

Mexico acts like Communists. This is typical dysinformation. They are going to keep saying this to prevent their citizens from packing up moving home. They are going to lie and keep telling people to stay in American and keep sending this corrupt country every dollar you can.
It does not benefit them to tell the truth because they don't want the money turned off or to be flooded with needy people.

Of course their is no mass exodus as our government and MSM love to proclaim. Despite how bad the economy may be for illegals, they still have it better here than in mexico. Mexico does not subsidize their spawn in the way of food stamps, welfare, WIC, housing subsidies, etc., as we do here in this country!

These people are not going to leave voluntairly ( in large numbers) unless they are completely cutoff from ALL job opportunities and benefits awarded to them via their anchor spawn.

true the news in Mexico does not mention migrants returning but they are mentioning lower remittinces once in awhile. one thing on remittinces they should be reported in us dollars because if reported in mexican pesos a decrease likely won't be noticed. in late august 2008 after being able to buy 10,5 pesos to the dollar we were only able to buy just over 9 pesos to the dollar. in september the peso started to fall significantly to the dollar and reached a high of 14 pesos to the dollar. currently is it 13,5 pesos to the dollar an over 30% rise in value of the dollar to the peso. so if remittances are reported in mexican pesos they will actually see a rise even though fewer dollars are being sent.
