Idaho Senator Craig Lauds Compromise Immigration Proposal

    For Immediate Release:
    May 17, 2007
    Craig Lauds Compromise Immigration Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Idaho Senator Larry Craig offered the following comments on the announced compromise on immigration reform:\

"The American people have rightly demanded that Congress solve the national problem of immigration, and the bill announced today is a serious effort to do just that. It has all three legs of the immigration reform stool - increasing border security, reforming our guest worker programs, and addressing the workers already in our country.

"While there is no way to please everyone on an issue as complex and divisive as this one, the legislation the Senate will be debating next week has many provisions that will promote our economy, protect the security of our country and its citizens, and deal fairly with both citizens and non-citizens alike. I believe this bill will serve the interests and needs of Idaho and the nation well."

For the past several years, Craig has promoted extensive changes to the agricultural guest worker program and border security. S. 340, the most recent iteration of AgJOBS, is sponsored by Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and 28 other Senators. It has been incorporated as part of this compromise on immigration reform. It was also included in the immigration reform bill that passed the Senate last year.

For the past several years, he has also worked closely with Senator Robert Byrd, D-W.V., on border security. Their efforts have added thousands of border patrol agents, improved detention facilities and enforcement efforts, and added technological security efforts to our borders.

Debate on the immigration compromise proposal is expected to begin in the U.S. Senate on Monday, May 21.

Like Isakson, another pandering clown working for "The Race" and the US Chamber of commerce.

Again, we all know border security will never happen unless it is detached from all other immigration issues. This is a farce, he knows it, even my 90 year old grandma knows it. Idaho has cracked down on illegals and here is another Senator ignoring the wishes of his constituents. How does he think that legalizing the very people they are trying to disuade will help? Make his phone ring Idaho!!!!
Check your credit report regularly, an illegal may be using your Social Security number.

You fellows up in Idaho need to give this character a little attitude adjustment. Maybe a good swift kick in his illegal alien pandering butt for openers.

I've gone after his butt in person, but he is unyielding. I'm just going to work very hard at getting him out of office in 2008. If he votes for cloture on Monday, I'll make sure in a letter to the editor of every newspaper up here that the citizens know what he is!!!

This is the reason Senator Craig will throw 100% of his support behind the compromise bill:

For the past several years, Craig has promoted extensive changes to the agricultural guest worker program and border security. He and Sen. Feinstein want that darn AgJOBS program! In hopes of getting the AgJOBS bill last year - they were both whinning like two little babies.

We have a temporary worker program for agricultural workers - it's called the H-2A visa program. There is no cap on the amount of agricultural workers that can enter the country under the H-2A visa program, but it does require the farmers to pay somewhere around $9.00 an hour and provide living quarters, health care, and transportation from and to the border (entry and departure are actually monitored - we know who and when they come and when they leave). Unfortunately our farmers have become dependent on illegal immigrants ($6.00 an hour, no living quarters, no health care, and no transportation necessary). It's all about cheap labor.
