Obama fails to stand with victims of illegal immigration

Prior to National Remembrance Day which memorializes those killed by illegal aliens, the citizen advocacy groups Tea Party Immigration Coalition and Federal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Coalition wrote to President Obama asking him to stand with the victims and their families by lowering the nation’s flags to half-staff on Sunday, November 6th.

Not only did Obama fail to issue the order, the White House reportedly failed to even respond to the emails which were sent by the groups to multiple White House addresses.

What follows is the groups’ request:

November 3, 2011

Dear President Obama,

Millions of American citizens and legal immigrants are killed, maimed and otherwise victimized by illegal alien criminals every year. This unnecessary harm to Americans is perpetuated by the failure of the federal government to enforce our nation's immigration and employment laws. And the toll on our citizens will continue to grow so long as you ignore your responsibility to enforce those laws.

Accordingly, we have designated November 6th as a Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Illegal Aliens.

November 6th is also the 25th anniversary of the 1986 IRCA Amnesty for illegal aliens which encouraged, and even a quarter century later continues to encourage, illegal immigration by those expecting amnesty.

Mr. President, we are asking you to order all national flags to be flown at half-staff on November 6th to honor our fallen citizens, victimized not only by illegal alien criminals, but by the federal government's refusal to secure the border and enforce our immigration laws.

Unlike Obama, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) has announced his sponsorship of a resolution to honor those Americans killed by illegal aliens. On November 3rd, the Congressman joined with the FIRE Coalition and the Immigration Tea Party Coalition in support of National Remembrance Day.

Just outside the Capitol building, Rep. King, along with Congressman Walter Jones, activists Jeff Lewis and John Stahl stood alongside Jamiel Shaw Sr. and Ray Tranchant (both of whom lost their children to the reckless and even murderous actions of illegal aliens) and said: “These are real human stories, there's real pain and real agony going on on a daily basis in the United States of America, and we treat it as if it's just some kind of tolerable interruption of our lives. It's not. It's an interruption of innocent lives that takes place because we have an administration that refuses to enforce immigration law.â€
