Pot plants, guns found at Batesburg-Leesville house; 2 charged

Lexington County narcotics officers on Friday charged two men with manufacturing marijuana, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday.

Officers with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) also seized 150 small marijuana plants as well as two rifles and one shotgun at a home on Shealy Road near Batesburg-Leesville.

The men were booked at the county detention center and determined by federally trained correctional officers to be in the country illegally from Mexico. Officials with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division were notified.


Charged were Laureno Orozco Gonzales, 32, of 223 Marvin Road, Columbia, and Pablo Hernandez, 28, of 338 Shealy Road, Batesburg-Leesville.

It was not immediately clear whether the men had attorneys.
