A timeline is being set to enact new laws in Fremont pertaining to illegal immigrants.
The four members of the Fremont City Council Development and Improvements Committee were the first to hear a proposal from city administrator Bob Hartwig to establish timelines for several phases of a possible new city law that would target illegal immigrants.
It lays out the process of enacting and implementing any new ordinance over a three-year period.
“But I can shorten it to 2 years or even 1 1/2 years,â€

This is where the activism has to start, at the local level. And more likely in small towns like Fremont, NE than in larger cities where there are more invasion supporters and excusers. I hope they stick to their guns and go for it. Full steam ahead.

I think the following paragraph is the heart of the town's proposal:
Harwig’s outline has council members discussing several pieces of what could be a proposed ordinance over the next three months, including the use of electronic verification to make sure that immigrants are in the United States legally, possibly creating a license for businesses to operate in the city, fines for violating any ordinance that would be adopted, enforcement potentials, ordinance jurisdiction within the city limits or reaching out two miles to include the city’s zoning area
Thank-you so much for posting this, because I live in Nebraska, though not in Fremont. This is really interesting to me. I might try to reach someone mentioned in the article tomorrow and see if there is any way they would let me attend a meeting regarding this. I strongly believe that in addition to organizations like Alipac, it is going to take local, grassroots activism like this to change things. The Federal government is going to be last to change, not first. As the article indicates, Fremont could start a bigger movement in the state of NE.<div>Number*U.S. military*in S.Korea to protect their border with N.Korea: 28,000.
