Three charged with prostitution in Wayne
Saturday, January 23, 2010

WAYNE — The police special operations bureau recently charged three women with prostitution in three separate incidents.
Police arrested Timera Skelton, 23, of Paterson, Shirley Barbedo, 41, of Kenilworth, and Luciana Luzia DeCastro, 28, of Newark, according to a news release from Capt. Paul Ireland. Members of the special operations bureau responded to three advertisements on the Internet for "adult service" in Wayne this month, most recently on Thursday. The officers were directed to meet at hotels and were offered sexual services for money, police said in the release.
Skelton and Barbedo were issued summons for prostitution and released, Ireland said. DeCastro also was charged with prostitution, but before she was released, authorities learned that Immigration and Customs Enforcement had an outstanding warrant for her because she was in the country illegally, police said. She was transferred to ICE pending a hearing.
Ireland said police will vigorously follow up on vice complaints to help improve the quality of life in the town.
