Immigration Advocate Takes 1M Letters To Washington

Immigration Advocate Takes 1M Letters To Washington
Popular Spanish-Language DJ Makes Cross-Country Trip

    POSTED: 2:23 pm PDT June 10, 2007

LOS ANGELES -- A popular Spanish-language disc jockey began a cross-country trip Sunday to encourage Congress to overhaul the nation's immigration laws, planning to give 1 million supporting letters to lawmakers in Washington, D.C.

Eduardo "Piolin" Sotelo, from the nationally syndicated show, "Piolin por la Manana," and several others traveling in his caravan left from a Mexican cultural landmark in downtown as several hundred fans and supporters cheered.

Sotelo said he would stop in several cities before his planned arrival in Washington D.C. on June 14.

"We are knocking on the door" of immigration reform, said Sotelo. "Immigrants haven't come here to hurt anybody, but just to work and earn money for their families."

Sotelo and other Spanish-language disc jockeys were instrumental in helping to mobilize hundreds of thousands of people to marches in the spring of 2006 in favor of immigration reform.

Sotelo's current campaign asks legal residents and American citizens to write letters in support of immigration reform that would create a path to citizenship for the estimated 12 million living in the country illegally.

In recent weeks, the Senate had been debating a reform bill that would have done that. But negotiations apparently fell apart this week, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., set the measure aside.

They are just coming here to work and earn money to support their families.
Yeah, right. Then why are 1/3 of California's prison inmates illegal immigrants from Mexico?
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

All I have to say is that they better get the same treatement our supporters got when they tried to hand deliver letters to Bush. Wasn't it the MM that got rejected last year?

I know they got over a million letters from us this past week and we are the people they should be representing not a bunch of foreign nationals.

Think now is the time for us all to send them a American Flag.
    With message of your choosing.
Have them all arrive on June 14th Flag Day.

I don't care if you have 20 million letters, we the people want the Damn Borders so secured the ants will be affraid to cross....and enforce our laws we already have .

If congress wants to pass a bill so bad how about, revisit the 14 amendment and give permission to state and local goverment the authority to enforce our laws!!!

If this person really has 1 million letters either they are fake or it proves without a doubt that there are more than 12 million illegals aliens in the US.

If there are one million letters from LA, come on, they aren't all from citizens!
Think they're all written in English?

One million letters? This is certified, bona fide, concentrated, industrial strength bull sh*t. These illegals can't write a letter, many cannot even write their names. This disc jockey probably had a letter writing "mill" staffed by pro-illegal activists churning our one line "letters" and signing bogus names. These people are chronic, pathological liers and I, for one, wouldn't believe one damn thing they told me.
