Authorities: 2 Doctors From Mexico Practicing Medicine Without License

Last Update: 1:20 pm

Two doctors from Mexico are facing legal troubles. Authorities say they were practicing medicine without the proper license.

This month, a cease and desist order was issued against both Francisco Morales and Dario Rivera Juarez. Authorities say they were practicing medicine in the Valley, and although they're licensed in Mexico, they're not licensed in Texas.

Morales is accused of violating the Texas Medical Practice Act. Officials say Morales met with people in Texas and transported them across the border into Mexico to administer medical treatments in exchange for compensation.

Juarez is accused of presenting himself as a medical doctor at a clinic in La Feria in 2005 and 2006. Officials say he conducted physical exams, diagnosed complaints, prescribed medications and wrote prescriptions using the authorization numbers of another physician.

In October 2006, Juarez was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony for practicing medicine without a license.
