Drugs, gun, cash seized at Nogales
ARIZONA DAILY STAR
Border agents seized a gun, cash and more than 300 pounds of drugs in the past two days at the Nogales port of entry.
The seizures were all conducted during routine stops, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.
The release detailed the following seizures:
● A 23-year-old Nogales, Sonora, man was arrested Wednesday morning after agents found more than a pound of methamphetamine under the driver's seat of a Ford pickup truck he was driving.
● A 46-year-old Sonora woman was arrested Wednesday morning after agents learned she was wanted on suspicion of human smuggling. Agents also found 274 pounds of marijuana in the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis she was driving.
● Agents found more than 16 pounds of heroin in a 1988 Nissan Sentra about 10 a.m. Wednesday. The 49-year-old man driving the vehicle was arrested.
● Nearly 39 pounds of cocaine hidden in the engine compartment of a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 was seized Wednesday afternoon. The 45-year-old man driving the pickup was arrested.
● A 17-year-old boy from Nogales, Sonora, was arrested after agents found more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine inside the back seat of a 1997 Dodge Neon.
● Agents arrested a 22-year-old man from Culiacan, Sinaloa, early Thursday after they found a loaded handgun hidden in his pocket. The firearm was seized.
● Agents seized $24,200 from a 63-year-old man Thursday who had hidden the cash in an attempt to evade currency reporting requirements.
