EDITORIAL: What an idiotic idea at Census

Census Bureau's request sets new standard for absurdity.

SOMETIMES, IT SEEMS as if one of the requirements for government service is a tin ear for public opinion.

What else possibly could explain the idiotic position by the Census Bureau which suggests the federal government should suspend picking up illegal immigrants for several months surrounding the 2010 count, because enforcement actions might discourage an accurate tally.

Huh?

Seriously. The Bureau wants the feds to stop enforcing the law because it might muck up the census.

THAT'S NOT ALL. Try this one.

A spokesperson for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office refused to say whether or not ICE might put a hold on raids and actions against illegals, but did add, “If we were (to stop enforcement), we wouldn't talk about it.â€
