    Immigration reform: The coming storm

    Immigration reform: The coming storm

With President Obama’s health care reform plan bogged down in committees, there is little chance of any bill reaching his desk by Christmas.

At present, there are no less than five bills floating in various committees. Four of those five include a public provision and have been priced at over one trillion dollars by the Office of Management and Budget.

Whatever and whenever any solid bill comes to the floor for a vote, it will likely be a ghost of the original idea the president and his supporters hoped for.

But as the nation’s attention has been focused on this ongoing battle in congress, other topics have been festering just below the surface.

The war in Afghanistan is at a turning point. President Obama is responsible for making vitally important strategic decisions as to the war and how involved the country will continue to participate militarily.

Again, the final outcome rests with the president and the bet by Washington insiders is he will increase troop strength in the region and blame his generals if it doesn’t work Thus, he can remain at ease with the far left and appease the right for now.

That leaves the ongoing debate on illegal immigration that will most certainly be addressed in next year’s congress.

Since Obama’s address to the joint session of congress and the “liarâ€

Illegals will get more freebies as non-citizens.

I am praying with all my might that amnesty never happens in this country. I can't think of anything that would be worse for our country and people at this time.

On the the stupid things about amnesty is that the illegals think that they will continue to get a "free" ride via our tax dollars but the powers that be see that they are a younger demographic than the average age of American and the gov't is in debt, so illegals if amnestied in would be stuck paying huge amounts of taxes. If not direct taxes, they will be taxed for anything not nailed down. That's what the massive Cap and Trade tax is all about, etc.

Illegals will be nothing more than gov't slaves.

It is high time we realize what these potential immigrants already know better than we as a nation do! If we don’t begin to think more selectively about our new citizens, we will become the nation many yearn to depart.

That thought should be unthinkable to every American citizen.
"We will become the nation many yearn to depart." --- Yep, thats right. If it gets much worse.

"That thought should be unthinkable to every American citizen." --- Nope, not unthinkable to me.

[quote]Within that policy, hard thinking concerning the right for infants born here of illegal immigrants should be studied. Its very nature has enabled millions of illegal aliens a quick and undeserving path to legal status and caused millions to simply “flopâ€

It is one thing to have laws on the books and quite another to fund their enforcement.
I would rather my government spend my taxes on enforcement than give it to IAs. Surely the cost would be much cheaper in the long run.

Many opponents to the president’s bill speculate that he insisted on illegal non-participation because he knows as a constitutional lawyer, there is little chance it will survive a fight in the nation’s highest court. In fact, the costs of funding illegal aliens is included in all OMB predictions."

I would love to know where in the constitution it says or implies that definitely the US MUST provide health care coverage to illegal aliens!! Can anyone explain this absurdity to me?? Is the Supreme Court expected to rule that way just because of politics, or is there actually a logical reason?!!

I believe it's simply because of semantics. The term person or persons is used in so many places that 'citizen of' should have been. Sadly the SCOTUS since the mid 60's has tended to rule strictly by the definition of certain words (person) rather than original intent.
