Doormat decree

The U.S. Supreme Court has made it that much easier for aliens to overstay their welcome.
In Dada v. Mukasey, the court ruled 5-4 that someone here illegally may withdraw his voluntary agreement to leave the country and continue efforts to gain approval to stay.

The four liberal justices and wild-card Justice Anthony Kennedy seemed untroubled by the definition of "illegal." Immigration authorities clearly determined that plaintiff Samson Dada, a Nigerian citizen, had entered a "sham" marriage to stay in the United States.

Mr. Dada remained in the U.S. after his tourist visa expired in 1998. The next year, he "married" an American and started trying to obtain a visa as an immediate relative of a U.S. citizen.

Immigration officials say Dada and his "wife" failed to submit proper documents.
One wonders how many more laws of this republic can be violated shamelessly by aliens -- and how many decades illegals may continue to trespass while pleading for the indefensible -- before any of the five justices is troubled by a plaintiff's illegal actions.

And one wonders how many more illegals now will be emboldened to crawl out from the shadows and clamor for the same "right" to flout U.S. laws as they demand "justice."

In opening this door, the Supreme Court has turned America into a doormat.
