State troopers are investigating a deadly chase in Starr county that claimed the lives of two people.

It happened south of San Isidro. We're here near the accident scene.

A spokesman for the highway patrol says this is where two people died right around lunch time today. We understand a Constable was trying to pull over a stolen truck carrying illegal's , on FM 2294, when the truck collided with a car here at the intersection of Delmita road.

An illegal immigrant was killed and a local woman by the name of Alicia Fuentes also died. Four other illegals were transported to the hospital and an aerial continued for two other illegal immigrants who bailed out into the brush. Residents of the Delmita community says human smuggling is common place here. One person says the illegal's believe this is their gateway to freedom.

Celinda Alvarado a Delmita resident says, "Her sister was driving her I don't know where they were going I guess to the post office. But you know, this is common for a quiet town."
State Trooper Luis Rosales adds, "The vehicle was traveling south trying to make an east turn on Delmita when they met and T-boned. Unit 2 was torn in two and unit 1 rolled over by the light pole back there."

It's unclear if the immigrant smuggler or coyote was captured. DPS tells us that one man told them he was the driver but later retracted his statement.

We're still gathering information about this fatal crash. We'll have more for you tonight on Action 4 News at ten.
