MEXICO CITY - Mexico's foreign secretary talked about immigration and security issues with the Gov. Janet Napolitano on Thursday.

Napolitano, Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez and Sonora state Gov. Eduardo Bours Castelo talked about the importance of strengthening infrastructure and economic development along the Mexican-Arizona border, according to a statement by Derbez's office.

They also discussed recent security measures on both sides of the border, and "the need to establish ways for safe, legal, orderly and respectful migration," the statement said.

Arizona is the nation's busiest entry point for illegal immigrants, mostly Mexicans. Napolitano and other state officials have urged the federal government to toughen its enforcement efforts and fully reimburse the state for costs stemming from the flourishing human smuggling trade.
