CQ TODAY MIDDAY UPDATE
Nov. 9, 2007 – 2:15 p.m.
Tensions between Hispanic Democrats and House leaders exploded Friday when a bloc of Hispanic lawmakers voted to derail a major tax bill, relenting only after an angry confrontation on the floor with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer , D-Md.
The rebellion was a response to votes by 36 Democrats Thursday night in favor of a non-binding Republican motion Hispanic members called offensive. The more I read the madder I get. Last time I voted I didn't vote for ethnic origin. I thought everyone running for office was supposed to be for all Americans. Now I keep hearing about Hispanic Democrats or the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Yesterday I read an article from Hispanic's threatening to burn in Effigy any Hispanic legislature that votes against any bill that doesn't reward hispanic's, legal or illegal.
Talk about racist. Well I'm learning. As American or reasonable as I want to be I will never trust voting for anyone with a Hispanic name again.
They can talk about prejudice or racism all they want and if I am I was not born or raised that way; mine is all earned.
