Immigration Advocates Talk With Burris

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Embattled Senator Roland Burris isn't talking to the media anymore but, today, reporters did get a second-hand account of his activities. WBBM's Regine Schlesinger reporters a dozen immigration reform advocates met with the Senator in his Chicago office.

Hispanic community activists spent time with Senator Burris to talk about immigration and other issues important to Latinos. Carlos Arango says the issue of the Senator's controversial appointment and his testimony before the Illinois House impeachment committee never came up. In his words, "We are ready to leave the controversy behind."

Another member of the group, Omar Lopez, says the Senator was non-commital on their specific legislative proposals but, was attentive and sensitive to their concerns. He's not ruling out the possibility the organization might support Senator Burris if he runs to keep the seat next year.

As a citizen of Illinois.....Burris is about the most impossible person to contact. His phone doesn't work, he has no e-mail.....as a citizen of Illinois.....give me a clue as to how I can contact this guy, if I'm not black and a member of his church!!!!! The rest of us are CUT OFF!!!!!!

....about Omar Lopez, one of the "hispanic immigrant" activists who met with Burris and was quoted in this article...seems Mr. Lopez is a Mexican born, pro-Mexican illegal alien agitator and long-time ethno-centric "community organizer" in Chicago....touts himself as one of the key organizers of the now infamous 2006 Illegal Alien Public Temper tantrums in Chicago...
