New Jersey's county prosecutors' association has entered the fray over whether bails for illegal immigrants suspected in local crimes should be significantly raised to prevent federal officials from deporting them before their cases can be heard in local courts.

The association, which represents the state's 21 county prosecutors, filed a brief this month with New Jersey Supreme Court supporting Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi's position that bails on illegal aliens who have federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers placed on them should be significantly raised.
