Immigrant advocates called it a laughable charade with little to no chance of succeeding without any carrots to offer self-deportees.

Here's the carrot: go home on your own
Here's the stick: go home or go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect welfare benefits.

The illegal population should be THANKFUL FOR THIS KIND OF AMNESTY!

Turn yourself in now and you won't get thrown into prison or detention.

This is the only AMNESTY they should be offered.

Come legally!

mandate E-Verify for all employees

namdate E-Verify for any benefit

Automatically fine anyone employing an illegal, $20,000, with a $200 per head bounty paid to the reporting citizen.

Now those sound good. E-verify for benefits. But there has to be a way that the parents of anchors can't use the money for anything but food (no liquor or cigarettes) and children's clothing only.

I like the $200 a head for reporting citizen.

Hey, I'm in favor of anything that will send illegals home. I want more details before I pass judgement.

I think a good incentive for self deportation would be to let these people be first in line for any new guest worker program, if real background checks are done. They will be processed out and illegal re-entry is a felony. All the advocates who want a more humane solution will now have one.

Nothing I have read mentions paying to transport them home. It simply allows them to sell possessions, make relocation plans and then LEAVE.

Of course, the devil is in the details, as always. Let's keep on top of this.

It's well worth a try.

As an incentive we are going to ramp up workplace raids tenfold, stop birthright citizenship and deport every last illegal caught for ANY reason. They will be put in detention on an immigration hold until proper identification is found.

Or.........deport yourself, no penalty, no detention.
