A Nebraska bill that mimics Arizona's illegal immigration measure failed to advance in committee Wednesday.

The bill from Fremont Senator Charlie Janssen would require police to confirm the residency status of suspected illegal immigrants.

The Judiciary Committee voted Wednesday not to advance any immigration bills to the full Legislature this year.

Instead, it is recommending studying issues related to illegal immigration this summer.
