    ICE spent some time inside the Bexar County Jail looking for undocumented immigrants

    Since the program started in March of 2007, Immigration & Customs Enforcement has placed immigration detainers on 23,372 inmates who were under arrest and in the United States illegally. The San Antonio Field Office covers 54 area counties.

    The goal is to catch these individuals in the booking area, before they are able to go through the system and bond out of jail. Once a detainer is placed on an inmate they are given due process, but held for deportation.
