"I joined the Minutemen because I got tired of complaining and doing nothing about it."

Dennis Jamison drove all the way from Oklahoma to stand up with other Minutemen and do the job he says the government isn't doing.

Jamison explained, "I believe in this nation and I think it should stand for awhile. I don't think anyone's doing anything about it. I think our government is selling us out."

The Minutemen will be out for the entire month of October. They hope to fill the gaps where they are needed. Over the next month they plan to sit out in the desert North of the border. If they see illegal immigrant traffic they say they will report it to the Border Patrol.

"We're honest citizens who want nothing more than security and enforcement," Chris Simcox said.

Minuteman President Chris Simcox says he's ready for another deployment. He just wishes, after five years of deployments, it wouldn't be necessary.

"We would hope we had been out of business at this time and we could report to the American people the government has secured the border. We're getting there," Simcox told KOLD.

Simcox says he's encouraged with the new border fences going up and the new technology to help stop illegal immigration. He says he's also glad that over the last five years the Minuteman have established a good working relationship with the Border Patrol.

"We try to watch their back. We're working North of the lines they work for the people who slip through them. We can observe and report that to Border Patrol," Simcox added.

Simcox told KOLD News 13, with the new improvements on the border and with the Border Patrol, he hopes this is one of the last Minuteman deployments.

"Come April or next summer we may be out of business which was our goal to begin with," Simcox said.

But, if the volunteers are needed they say they'll be back.

Dennis Jamison told KOLD, "It'd be nice if the government would come in and do what they should, but I'm not holding my breath."

The Minutemen expect to have anywhere from 800 to 1200 volunteers throughout Operation Secure America.
