DEMING, NM - Members of the New Mexico Minutemen, using night-vision equipment, helped Border Patrol agents apprehend 24 illegal immigrants during a single night last week.

Border Patrol officials said 18 men and six women were taken into custody late on April 24th near the Pendelton Ranch in Luna County.

Agents responded after being contacted by the civilian border watchdog group.

Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mozier says the Minutemen contacted the federal agency but provided water and blankets to the migrants.

The Mexican Consulate in El Paso was notified, and the immigrants were taken to there for interviews and deportation.
