NOGALES -- Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have found six hand grenades in a Rio Rico home while serving a search warrant that also led to the discovery of 2,400 pounds of marijuana.

ICE spokeswoman Amber Cargile tells the Nogales International that a state police bomb squad was called to the home after the grenades were discovered.

Santa Cruz County sheriff's deputies evacuated nearby homes while the bomb squad entered the house and investigated the grenade discovery.

Four of the grenades were found to be inert and two were live smoke grenades.

Cargile says special agents with Homeland Security Investigations raided the home on Aug. 17 while investigating a suspected drug smuggling operation. They arrested two suspects in the case. They were not identified.
