NAPLES — Two Lely High School students stabbed a 51-year-old garden worker to death and dragged his lifeless body into a nearby stand of woods in East Naples, all in an effort to steal his wallet, according to Collier County detectives, as well as neighbors and an employer who identified the victim.

Juan Jose Barrientos Jr., 17, 111 Tomato Road, and Jesus Rene Garza Jr., 18, 113 Tomato Road, then tried to sell the man’s electric saw before eventually cleaning a car of the victim’s blood, according to statements they gave detectives.

The body was found near Six L’s Farm Road, an area of tomato fields, landscaping gardens and the low-income employees who work the fields.

The robbery and killing were premeditated, detectives say.
