“More Rights Than American Citizens” – DHS Sec. Markwayne Mullin Confirms New York is Downgrading Crimes by Illegal Aliens to Protect Them from ICE

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin accused New York of giving illegal aliens “more rights than American citizens” by downgrading criminal offenses and giving softer punishments to violent criminals based on their immigration status.

“Illegal immigrants in New York State have more rights than American citizens,” Mullin said after confirming they are downgrading offenses during an appearance on Fox News this morning.

“There’s over 16,000 detainers— that means individuals that are in their prison systems or have been released from the prison systems that the Department of Homeland Security has said, ‘hey, turn these individuals over. They’re illegally in this country. They shouldn’t be released in the country.’”

This includes “over 52,000 felony charges,” including 131 murderers and 132 rapists, Mullin said.

“And the list goes on, and they’re turning them loose in their streets in New York City.”

“They want to say it’s humane. It’s not humane. It’s costing American citizens their lives, and every single person that’s lost their life to an illegal was 100% preventable, and the blood is on the hands of these sanctuary city politicians that’s done this,” he added.

Mullin’s confirmation comes after the House Judiciary Committee released a report, accusing New York prosecutors of “obstruct[ing] the enforcement of federal immigration law and shield[ing] foreign national criminals from accountability,” which are federal crimes.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, and Staten Island District Attorney Michael McMahon were busted for treating illegals with kid gloves and downgrading offenses to help them evade ICE.

The prosecutors’ offices are giving preferential treatment to illegals “based on their immigration statuses” and granting “consideration of immigration consequences in cases involving aggravated felonies, crimes against children, domestic violence, strangulation, and firearms offenses,” according to the committee.

Similar policies were also found in Fairfax County, Virginia, where prosecutors are instructed to consider immigration consequences when prosecuting illegal aliens.

New York officials were asked about the policies during a recent press conference, and they were stunned into silence by the question.

“Did any of you order prosecutors to downgrade gun charges to keep illegal immigrants in the US, per the Judiciary Committee report?” a New York Post reporter asked, and they refused to answer.
