NJ senators unsure on immigration deal

WASHINGTON - It’s unclear how New Jersey senators would vote on the controversial immigration deal the Senate is debating this week - if the legislation reaches the floor at all.

Sen. Robert Menendez, who was involved in behind-closed-doors negotiations that led to last Friday’s compromise, has said he’ll vote against the measure as written.

However, he’s gearing up to offer amendments aimed at changing the terms to his liking.

He wants to reduce the backlog of legal immigrants’ family members who are waiting for the government to process their “green cardâ€
