Former Haitian organization director gets 8 years in immigration case
MIAMI (AP) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office says the former director of a Haitian American nonprofit organization has been sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in the filing of thousands of fraudulent work permits for immigrants.
Gomez Accime was the executive director of The Haitian-American Community Help Organization of South Florida Incorporated. The U.S. Attorney's office says he will also have to serve three years probation.
A jury convicted Accime of two counts of mail fraud and two counts of presenting false applications for employment authorization in March.
HACHO was convicted of three counts of presenting false applications for employment authorization. The organization was sentenced in June to three years' probation and ordered to pay a 50-thousand dollar fine.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says the organization filed more than ten thousand fraudulent applications for which they made more than three million dollars.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn
