La Raza opens conference in Chicago
    Saturday, July 25, 2009

(CHICAGO) (WLS) -- The nation's largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization opened a four-day conference Saturday in Chicago.
Mariachi music filled McCormick Place West for the gathering of the National Council of La Raza. The group plans to focus on issues, initiatives, and programs that make a positive impact on the lives of Latino families, including the economy, health, housing, and education.
ABC7 Chicago reporter Theresa Gutierrez was given the honor of being emcee of the conference. Saturday, she introduced the U.S. Senate's Assistant Majority Leader and Illinois Democrat Dick Durbin.
"It is time for us to pass comprehensive immigration reform in the United States of America," said Durbin. "We are never going to deport 12 million people from America. These are people who make this country great, and need to be part of our future."
Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, also spoke Saturday. She said the foundation and La Raza are partners in the fight to improve and reform education.

Criminals "make this country great"? These people came here illegally and completely thumbed their noses up at our laws, and Dubrin says "they people make this country great"? WHATS WRONG WITH DURBIN AND THE REST OF OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS? Vote the traitor out of office. The attitude coming out some of our elected officials is outrageous. WE ELECTED THEM INTO OFFICE TO REPRESENT THE INTERESTS OF AMERICAN CITIZENS - NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS!

What makes me absolutely sick is all the major corporations lined up, ready to toss money and their name at la raza, in order to boost their bottom line! These companies would sell their souls to the devil if they thought it would make them money!

These companies by their continued support of this organization, are aiding and abetting the destruction of this country through mass illegal immigration and the the violation of our immigration laws!

    Shameful!

maybe its a time to start calling all these companies and let them know what kind of group la raza really is and what they really are all about and then tell them, as long as they sponsor these groups, you and your friends will never have their business
