Old, Unhappy--"100 Years Living" Club of Immigrant

A revealing article about the extent of elderly immigration to the US. Predicts 16 million such persons by 2050----most having never worked in the US. They are drawing SSI AND working in some cases.

How do we impress upon the "Obama Generation" that continued immigration of foreign seniors is one more burden on the failing Social Security System?

FREMONT, Calif. — They gather five days a week at a mall called the Hub, sitting on concrete planters and sipping thermoses of chai. These elderly immigrants from India are members of an all-male group called The 100 Years Living Club. They talk about crime in nearby Oakland, the cheapest flights to Delhi and how to deal with recalcitrant daughters-in-law.

Together, they fend off the well of loneliness and isolation that so often accompany the move to this country late in life from distant places, some culturally light years away.

Some states, including California and New York, have chosen to eliminate the waiting period for Medicaid for lawfully residing immigrants, paying with state money.
    Why am I not surprised?

What makes me mad are these selfish, uncaring kids who bring their parents over to the USA pretty much just to watch their kids and much work for THEM, and when they tire of their parents in the house, they throw them out on the street! How cruel!!!

Leave your poor parents in their home country, with their friends and neighbors!! Go fly home to visit them when you can!

I think there are very few elderly from Third World countries that can take the shock of moving to such a different culture at an advanced age. Especially those in rural, small areas coming to the big, noisy, American city.

Such disrespect for their elders by bringing them over here!!! Leave them where they are happy!
