    Feds Raid Timbuktu In Hanover

    Local Restaurant Raided

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has just completed a raid at Timbuktu Restaurant at 1726 Dorsey Road in Hanover. Anne Arundel police supplied 18 officers to assist federal authorities in executing warrants at the restaurant and at several other residential locations around the County. From a source close to the investigation, the restaurant was hiring undocumented illegal aliens and providing them safe harbor.

Timbuktu Restaurant has been in business for over 25 years and has won numerous culinary awards and accolades from Zagat Survey, USA Today, AOL, Baltimore Magazine and more.

County Executive John R. Leopold today released the following statement regarding the multiple-location operation executed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) this morning:

"Our local law enforcement continues to provide assistance to federal authorities charged with upholding our immigration laws to the greatest extent possible. This morning our officers assisted a major operation to execute warrants at a business and residential locations in the County. We will continue to work closely with ICE to forward information on possible violations as well as execute responses."

The Anne Arundel County Police Department has participated in numerous operations with ICE officials addressing illegal immigration, undocumented and fraudulently documented workers, as well as criminal and gang activity related to illegal immigrants. “High-level officials at the Department of Homeland Security have informed me that they share my position that employers must be the focus of immigration enforcement activities,â€

Here in Maryland, County Executive John R. Leopold is one of the few men who continuously and tirelessly take a stand against illegal immigration. If you have a moment, drop him a note of thanks for being courageous enough to constantly fight this battle that so many in office slink away from!

    exleop00@aacounty.org

He is the one that put an E-Verify provision into law for our County (unfortunately he could only have it passed in our County and not state-wide), but he introduced and passed a bill that requires any vendor doing services directly with Anne Arundel County (construction, landscaping, etc.) to use E-verify. He got blasted over it by pro-illegal alien groups, but he continues to fight the fight. This man is truly a gem amidst the corrupt illegal alien-pandering officials that represent Maryland!

Oh, he also developed a policy requiring officers and booking officers to perform an immigration check for all suspects arrested, detained or in custody at the Detention Center who are believed or suspected to be an illegal alien.

    THANK YOU MR. LEOPOLD!!

County Executive Leopold was just on the news. He said that with the economy the way it is, and with so many legal taxpayers out of work, it is unfair that employers continue to hire illegal aliens. And he made it quite clear that he is coming after employers of illegals! His statements were videotaped outside one of the restaurants raided here in Maryland. It was AWESOME to see him speaking to the cameras with ICE agents in the background, all with smiles on their faces! Priceless!!!! :P

casa de Maryland (our state's very own LaRaza look-a-like) ALREADY is speaking out against these raids:

CASA de Maryland, an advocacy group for Latino immigrants, says these raids are wrong. It's their belief this should be solved with national immigration reform.

"I think by arresting people, they will terrorize the community, and the community would be even scared to answer a census form," said Tarsila Talarico, CASA de Maryland.

It pisses me of that Casa de Maryland had to pull out the "census" card. Really? It just goes to show the pro-illegal alien goons will do anything to push for more funding for the illegal invaders that spit on our Constitution, evade our taxes, and march on our streets demanding rights in OUR country.

"There are many small businesses in this county, state, nation that play by the rules, follow labor laws. They pay taxes, and they're seriously undercut by those employers who hire illegal immigrants," said Leopold.

ICE says it did not take the restaurant owners into custody, but the investigation is continuing.

WHY DIDN'T THEY TAKE THE OWNERS INTO CUSTODY??!
Hopefully they are waiting to prove they indeed hire illegals, and then throw those owners in jail and make them pay a HUGE fine! Until business owners are severely punished, the practice of hiring illegals will continue happening.
