The cartels control border crossings by bribery and intimidation. The Gulf Cartel controls Reynosa and Matamoros. The Zetas control three border crossings further west which have less trade. The more legitimate traffic the easier it is to hide illicit shipments.

Ironic
Its Ironic that the Feds want to take away guns from the American people but in this case actually worked to help supply the Mexican Cartels with some pretty high quality fire arms...

Topic: Mexican Mexico Border illegal immigratio
Gunmen presumed to be Mexican drug operatives opened fire today on a couple riding water skis on the binational Falcon Lake reservoir, possibly killing the husband and sending the woman fleeing frantically to the U.S. side.
Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez said the couple — believed to be from McAllen — had crossed to the Mexican side when they came under a spray of bullets by two boatloads of men. The man, 30, was shot in the head and his wife said she fears he is dead.

They are bought in the U.S. The buyers (on the U.S. side of the border) have said in the past that sometimes they would acquire them from the U.S. Government itself.

There is not that much shocking there. The American government sells off old guns all the time. You can find military surplus munitions dealers with an easy internet search. All that quote means is that one of the licensed buyers of US military surplus munitions here is crooked and covertly selling to the Mexican drug cartels.

There are more drugs shipped illicitly within the United States than into the United States. It makes no more sense to ban traffic in goods from Mexico than across the country. I hope that customs does the best work it can. I do hope that the US government is strict in enforcing our truck safety laws on any trucks which carry cargo here from or through Mexico.
