More than 100 people allegedly involved in large-scale firearms and drug-trafficking operations were arrested today after raids by several law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, LAPD officials said.

The arrests started after midnight and are continuing, officials said. They stemmed from a two-and-a-half-year investigation by the LAPD, DEA, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Attorney's Office, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

A news conference was scheduled for 10 a.m. at LAPD's Harbor Station to discuss the combined effort.
