Federal officers at the Nogales Port of Entry seized in two incidents Monday about $475,000 in cash being smuggled into Mexico.

In the first case, Customs and Border Protection agents screening south-bound traffic stopped a vehicle driven by a Navojoa, Sonora, man for inspection. The officers searched the vehicle and found several bundles of money hidden in a door. Officers found a total of 14 bundles containing more than $350,000.

A few minutes later, officers stopped a vehicle driven by a Nogales, Sonora, man and searched it. They found seven bundles of money totaling more then $125,000.

The drivers of both vehicles were turned over to immigration officials and the cash was seized.

Earlier this month, officers at the port seized about $260,000 in cash being smuggled into Mexico in two separate incidents.
